At the invitation of Paul De Souza, Professor of Oncology at the University of Western Sydney, I have started to investigate the role of gratitude in the quality of life care for cancer patients. My PhD student, Karen Stafford, has also taken up research in this area. Paul and I have met several times over the past year to establish the conceptual framework of our research and now have a ten-year research plan that includes embedding the role of gratitude in medical education.

We are starting to seek funds for the initial stages of this project and will be holding a conference on the theme of Gratitude in Health. The conference is to be held in Sydney and scheduled for October 2017. John Hendry, a colleague who is a great thinker and educator in the area of gratitude has joined the conference committee. We will be posting more details about the conference on this website in due course.
